Dr. Applebaum is a board eligible plastic surgeon that comes to Piedmont Plastic Surgery and Dermatology after his training at Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic. He first developed his passion for plastic surgery during his research fellowship at the world renowned Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa,FL. While there, he helped develop projects that aided in shaping the guidelines and management of skin cancer.

During his training, he further developed his reconstructive abilities, allowing him to hone his aesthetic skills.  He strongly believes that each modality of plastic surgery is complementary and that one cannot truly understand aesthetics without understanding the reconstructive patient. He specializes in aesthetic surgery, breast reconstruction and skin cancer surgery.  His particular interests include surgery of the face, breast and body contouring.

Dr. Applebaum has spent years on the forefront of cutting edge surgical practices with multiple publications and national talks involving all of his interests.  He uses this knowledge and expertise to develop a plan to best suit each individual patient.  He understands that picking a surgeon can be a daunting task, but strives to deliver the best patient experience by making every patient feel comfortable, safe and happy while  in his care.
