Dr. Magel specializes in general, surgical, pediatric, and cosmetic dermatology. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has interests in a variety of clinical practices, including skin cancer surgery & prevention, complex dermatological conditions, skin rejuvenation, chemical peels and laser surgery. Dr. Magel is passionate about providing a natural look and individualized approach for all his cosmetic patients. He has extensive experience with a variety of injectables, including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Kybella, Voluma, Juvederm, Restylane, and Radiesse.
Dr. Magel grew up in Texas and developed a love for Dermatology through his mother, who has practiced dermatology for 40 years. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and served as an internal medicine intern at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his dermatology residency at Indiana University and served as Chief Resident for the Department of Dermatology. During his residency, he was awarded the Red Shoes Award, which recognizes outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Family-Centered Patient Care at Indiana University Hospitals.
Dr. Magel’s passion for dermatology is also demonstrated through his commitment to service and furthering his field academically. He has volunteered his time for medical mission trips, summer camps for children with dermatological disorders, and for annual free cancer screenings throughout his community. His publications include a book, Herpesviridae – A Look Into This Unique Family of Viruses, and several articles and chapters in dermatology journals and textbooks. In addition, he has spoken at several state and national dermatology conferences. Dr. Magel has also been an investigator in numerous medical and surgical dermatology trials.
Dr. Magel has been married to his wife, Jordan for 6 years and has 2 young boys, Jackson and Ford. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, fishing, snowboarding and watching college sports.
