The PPSD approach

Although administering injectables may seem simple to some, it actually requires a high degree of accuracy, artistry, and experience in order to achieve natural-looking results. At PPSD, our Botox in Charlotte NC physicians possess the elite skill and training necessary to gracefully accent your strengths while diminishing flaws. PPSD is one of the largest integrated plastic surgery and dermatology practices in the nation, yet our commitment to outstanding skin care demands that we offer the same individualized attention you would find at a small, specialized boutique.

Treatment begins with a private consultation in one of our beautiful office suites where your doctor will walk you through the procedure from start to finish. He or she will review your medical history and prior procedures, and ask about your goals for your appearance. Examining before and after photos together will help to align expectations for both surgeon and patient. This is also an excellent time to discuss any other procedures you may be interested in, as the doctor can easily administer additional dermal fillers as part of a more comprehensive anti-aging makeover.

What to expect from treatment

Injections are performed at one of our leading-edge surgical outpatient facilities in all of our offices in Charlotte, Gastonia, Shelby, Denver, Cornelius, Hickory. To ensure your comfort, an ice pack can be applied to numb the treatment areas with ice.

Botox all work by employing a rarefied strain of Botulism Toxin that blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from signaling the muscles to contract. Once these muscles are paralyzed, they cannot be used to form facial wrinkles, lines, and folds.

The products are injected into the skin via ultra-thin needles at specific sites selected by your injector. The needle feels like a little pinprick and is generally tolerated quite well by most patients. Your Charlotte NC Botox injections typically take around 10 minutes, and results begin to be visible within a few days, although complete response can take up to 14 days.

After the procedure

Although the procedure is relatively painless, you may elect to apply ice packs to your face post-injection, which will help alleviate any excess swelling or bruising. Take care not to touch, scratch or otherwise disturb the treatment sites for at least 10 hours in order to promote optimum healing. It’s also usually a good idea to abstain from any rigorous activity for the rest of day after receiving Botox.

Although you will enjoy spectacular results, facial injectables do not provide permanent relief from the signs of aging. Botox typically remains effective for about 3 months, although many patients experience variations. Discuss with your doctor how often to repeat the injections.
